The New Girl?!?
Updated: Dec 16, 2020
Hello Friends! For those of you who don't know me I'm Skylar, the new OneLife Program Assistant! I can't wait to get to know all of you, so here is a little about me!
Greetings fellow OneLifers, like I mentioned I am Skylar, the new OneLife Program Assistant! I have been around OneLife for a while now so you may recognize me from Life Maze, Fight the New Drug events, or YCAP.
For those of you who have never meet me, let me tell you a little about myself. I am currently in college at Cleveland State Community College studying Early Childhood Education, which translates to I'm always tired and I spend a lot of time using construction paper and washable markers to do my homework. Some of my favorite things to do is housesitting, dogsitting, babysitting, and regular sitting. And of course hanging out with cool people such as yourself *wink wink*. When I'm not making teens feel super awkward or busting out rad content for OneLife (shameless self promo- Find us on Facebook, Insta, AND Tiktok @onelifetn), I am usually crying over schoolwork, trying to learn Tiktok dances, or reading books that make me feel smart.
Alright, moving on to the serious stuff. Who am I really and how did I get involved in OneLife? I grew up in a broken home that left me empty, confused about my identity, and eventually fatherless. My middle school and high school years were filled with insecurity, anxiety, and bad decisions. In middle school I developed an addiction to pornography, that I did not expect to follow me to adulthood. But you know what? I'm here to tell you that none of that defines me. I was created for a purpose and that purpose is NOT to live a life of shame and regret. That's not your purpose either. I'm working with OneLife because I needed someone to tell me I have value and believe it for me when I couldn't. I needed someone to bring light to the harmful effects pornography could have on me instead of making it a taboo thing that "we don't talk about". I work with OneLife because I want to me that person for you.
You have value.
You are more than you give yourself credit for.
You are so so so loved.
